The living room is progressing, new wallpaper, emulsioned, new wall lights and new carpet due at the end of this week so soon be back to 'normal'. Loom is still banished to the dining room but is in business !!
I said last time that I needed a quick project and had threaded up eleven yards of 8/2 Tencel in Mineral Green to make four 'Drall' scarves. here I am all ready to go..................
And the back view with floating selvedges.................
That was on Monday and today I have one 72" scarf woven already !
Now, I am not so sure I want all four scarves to be self coloured but as you know I am a bit colour challenged ! So for those of you with Tencel in your stash, could I put 'eggplant' or 'mauve' or even 'sea coral' with mineral green ? Or, what other colour would do well with this soft green ?
Moving the loom may have upset it somehow as it is now quite noisy when I treadle, especially the treadles on the right. It is a wooden squeak not coming from the treadle but more in the harnesses somewhere and I am wondering if I should be doing anything with it ? Is it needing some 'tender loving care' ?
A couple of posts back I showed a picture of a rather sad warp on my rigid heddle loom. Here is a reminder............
This was a lace weight singles merino yarn which proved just too soft for this rigid heddle lacey project. I had a very helpful comment after my original post from workingyarn. She suggested that I only used the heddle to change the shed and used a pick up stick as a beater and so save the yarn. What a great tip and I would never have thought of it ! I did persevere and managed about 12" of weaving but then the edge warp threads began to break and the whole thing was a mess. For the second time in a week I took the scissors to a project and cut it off !! I still have half of the skein left so I can use it as weft with a stronger warp.
I think that is my story for this week, good to be weaving again after all the excitement of the 70th birthday celebrations !!
Many thanks again for visiting.
